I’m a little sad not to be riding, as I love competing and it seems like it’s been forever. But then the experience portion got filled out and, well, I think P’s in capable hands. Cough cough.

Because of course, the most important thing is to give P a good experience. Besides a handful of schoolings, most of our XC experience has come from horse trials, equating to 5 minutes every few months or so- not a lot of education there. Currently P & I both go around cross-country alternating between “Cross country is so fun!” to “WTF is THAT?” It’s just been luck that we haven’t had the same WTF reaction to the same fences, and I don’t want to rely on luck. I want education.

And as much as I love competing, I’m a little excited to just play owner for the first time. My friend is one of the photographers, and will be there, and Trainer B is also riding another clients’ horse, so they’ll be there and they’re super cool people. And if Michele can stop by on her way to TN, that would just be ahhhhh-mazing (no pressure, Michele. J/K there’s SO much pressure.).
Come ON May 24th, I’m ready to go!
Oh wait. I need my trailer finished first.
The horse vs. rider experience spectrum is my favorite part. P’s gonna have a hella good time! Or maybe curse you forever for doing this to him lol. But really, I think it’ll be the former. How freaking awesome to have this opportunity!

He definitely has fun on XC, and I think he’ll have a good time the whole way through with B on- since B doesn’t. ya know, pull on his mouth before every jump!

Playing owner is really fun! Though are you having to play groom and owner? Because the braiding and not riding part isnβt so great π and thatβs the college champs weekend too? Basically youβre going to have a really fun weekend bc you can drink all the wine and not worry about being to drunk to ride ππππππ

That experience gap though! It’s going to be such an awesome experience for P. I totally get your wanting someone to bring him around Novice first. I’m thinking about handing Scarlet over to someone at the barn to bring him over an oxer the first time because I just don’t trust myself to not flub it and I have no idea if he has jumped them before. Experience needs to be there on one side for me to be okay with winging it.

Ha, that screen shot of the entry form made me crack up. Total opposites. I completely understand wanting someone more experienced take him over new types of jumps (obviously) and if it makes you more comfortable, go for it!
