Horse Life

Extended Vacay

P’s last real ride was….about a week ago and we’re heading down to Miami later today to board a cruise ship, so I’m going to leave you with one last video of 2017. The fam all traipsed out to the barn with me on Friday to film another video, but due to Husband being terrible at filming, I couldn’t make his horrid videos work to pull it all together. So here’s a random preview of my horse being a SAINT. Seriously. For the first clip I had told my 9 year old to “roll the ball gently to P”, forgetting that “gently” is subjective, especially to a 9 year old boy.

He didn’t understand why we couldn’t just go AROUND the ball, but considering the only other time he’s seen the thing was months ago and he was terrified of it, I was happy with his reaction. Even more impressed because he hadn’t been ridden in 2 days, thanks to me getting sick for the zillionth time this year. Having one kid in daycare and one in elementary school is pretty much the equivalent of wading in a cesspool day after day. And there ain’t no getting off the merry go round anytime soon.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a happy New Year! Catch up with y’all (ya’ll? I’m a Midwesterner trapped in a southern state so forgive me) in 2018!

  1. P IS a saint! And I am impressed with how much riding you do with two young boys! I don’t have kids but feel like it’s already tough to make riding happen, so kudos to you for sure! Enjoy your cruise!!

  2. “Y’all” – the apostrophe takes the place of the “ou” (from a Southerner trapped in the Midwest)
And I love how he took to the ball! Doc just thinks it’s dumb and beneath him. Have a great (warm!) vacation!
